“Remember this and never forget it: even if it should seem at times that everything is collapsing, nothing is collapsing at all, because God doesn’t lose battles.” St. Josemaria Escriva, The Forge, No. 332
It’s good to take a step back from time to time to recall our littleness. To remember how much we don’t know. To grapple with the fact that so many things are beyond our control. And while it can be jarring and even a little bit scary to face the truth about ourselves, it’s an opportunity to be filled with great hope when we replace those worries with the truth about who God is. And how much He knows. And how gigantic His view is.
Our minds cannot comprehend God fully. But our hearts can believe Him when He tells us He is trustworthy. When He tells us He is in control of everything, even and especially the things that don’t make sense to us. We can replace our fears with confidence that God truly doesn’t lose battles.
Sometimes, the outcome we see isn’t what we expect or what we want. But it’s always what He has expected for all time, and He is always overcoming. And so even if from our little earthly perspective, it seems that God isn’t getting something right, we can have confidence that His view is much bigger, and that He’s winning a victory on our behalf.
St. Josemaria Escriva is a favorite saint for the way he spent his time on earth encouraging people to holiness in their daily lives. He knew that sainthood was made for every soul, but not all of us are called to grand acts to get there. Most of us, he taught, are called to small, daily acts of faith, hope, and love, in our homes, workplaces, and communities. We can be saints right where we are.
This scent profile is a mix of florals, incense, cedar and teakwood. It smells like the inside of Church!
